To be fair they've applied for many other jobs and been turned down. I

believe you give them both a fair shake and do a national search. But you need to do it timely so you give whoever takes over time to keep kids on the team. How many times does a job open up with this much talent though?

Normally when this happens, it's because of the lack of talent and performance. You might get applications you wouldn't expect so it would be smart to at least take a look.
